Current Status
Most current is listed first:
- Planning Workshop #5 was conducted with the Advisory Committee and members of the Technical Study Team on Thursday, February 14, 2008. The agenda of the workshop was to review local roadway proposals, revise, and reduce the number of local roadway options being considered. See Meeting Minutes.
- Planning Workshop #4 was held on December 13, 2007 where the screening of highways and transit alternatives was conducted with Advisory Committee members and the study team. See Meeting Minutes.
- Following the AC Meeting #3 review of concepts, it is envisioned that some of the concepts, although reasonable from a traffic standpoint, may not be reasonable with regard to environmental and/or social impact. Impacts to the natural, historic and social environments will be assessed and documented following the AC meeting. The intent of increasing evaluation and assessment is to reduce the number of multimodal concepts down to a manageable number of recommended near and long-term improvements to the corridor’s transportation infrastructure to best satisfy the overall purpose and need of this study.
- As a third level of evaluation, the schematic concepts are being engineered geometrically to meet actual ramp, roadway and highway curvature and design speed criteria. These concepts were presented at AC Meeting #3, including the traffic-related data analysis.
- Intersection analyses were performed to evaluate the new levels of service for many of the key intersections as a second level of concept evaluation.
- During the analysis, modifications of the preliminary concepts and other multimodal concepts were identified for study.
- Initial analysis identified those preliminary concepts that may work well and warrant further consideration, as well as those concepts that should be omitted from further study.
- Multimodal concepts developed in the concept development planning workshop held on May 23, 2007 (Planning Workshop #1) are being evaluated considering year 2030 forecasted traffic.
- Public Meeting #2 was held on Thursday, November 29, 2007 in the Culinary Arts Center Room of the Lowe Building at Manchester Community College in Manchester, CT. Please see Meeting Minutes for further information.
- Advisory Committee Meeting #3 was conducted on Thursday, November 15, 2007. Please see Meeting Minutes for further information.
- Planning Workshop #3, "Land Use Discussion", was held on September 27, 2007, as an informal, collaborative session to provide an opportunity to discuss land use planning experiences and their potential application in addressing the needs of the Buckland study area. See Meeting Minutes for more information.
- Planning Workshop #2 was held on May 23, 2007 where transportation plan concepts were identified and developed. See Meeting Minutes for further information.
